Happy Meet the Team Monday! Throughout April we continue to highlight a different member of The Bowes Team.

Today, we introduce Josh Garner, Marketing Manager.

Q: What is your favorite part about your job?

My favorite part about my job is the support I receive from working with such a great team. The people you work with can make or break your experience at any job and I'm lucky to be surrounded by a team of hardworking, goal-oriented, and encouraging people who make my job a positive experience. 🏆

Q: What was your proudest accomplishment last year?

Last year was a huge year for me! I don't know if I can pick only one. I achieved my Master's Degree, moved to Old Saybrook, and got a new job. #powermoves💪

Q: What is one thing you cannot live without?

Coffee! ☕It is a magical potion that transforms me into a functioning member of society every morning (and the occasional afternoon).

Q: Outside of work, what was last year's most memorable moment?

As any member of my family can attest, I used to be a bit of a "scaredycat" when it came to taking risks. Specifically, I've always had a fear of flying. If I'm being honest, at times its been a full on phobia. As fate would have it, I fell in love with an amazing guy who happens to be a pilot. As if regular flights in a Piper Cherokee with him at the controls wasn't enough to conquer my fear, my present to him on his birthday was to go skydiving. 🛩️The fear, the excitement and the risk of jumping from 14,000 feet strapped to a stranger was by far last year's most memorable moment.

Q: Can you share a little-known fact about yourself?

I can trace my family lineage back to before the Mayflower arrived. My great grandmother, Sylvia Owen Garner was a published genealogist who did extensive research mapping my family tree long before ancestry.com or even the internet was in existence. In addition to herself, we have some impressive family members such as John Nance Garner, 32nd Vice President of the United States who described the role of the Vice Presidency as "not worth a bucket of warm spit".
